Person-Centred,
Trauma-Informed, Always Relational
At SYD Supported Living, how we deliver care is as important as what we deliver. Our approach is built on genuine relationships, evidence-based practice, and deep respect for each person's autonomy.
It starts with a question.
Not "What is wrong with you?"
But "What matters to you?"
Many of the adults we support have spent years in services that tried to manage them rather than understand them. Behaviour is communication — and we're trained to listen.
At SYD Supported Living, we respond with curiosity, not control. Our team is trained in PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) and Recovery Star — evidence-based models that place the therapeutic relationship at the centre of everything we do. We don't just care for people; we care with them.
Three Principles That Shape Everything
These aren't values on a wall — they're the standards we hold ourselves to every single day.
Kind & Compassionate Care
Dignity is non-negotiable. Every interaction — from a morning routine to a difficult conversation — is approached with warmth, patience, and genuine respect for the person in front of us.
Autonomy & Choice
We support decision-making under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 — which means involving people fully in choices about their own life. We work with people, not for them. Their voice leads.
Safe & Well-Led Culture
CQC-registered and aligned to the Single Assessment Framework. We invest in our staff — reflective practice, supervision, specialist training — because the quality of support people receive depends entirely on the quality of the team delivering it.
How We Support Daily
1:1 Support Planning
Every person has a robust, personalised support plan built through genuine co-production. We use person-centred tools to understand goals, communication preferences, and what a good day looks like.
Skills Development & Independence
We work alongside people to build practical skills at a pace that builds confidence. Progress, not perfection — we celebrate small wins and focus on long-term outcomes.
REACH-Based Practice
Support is designed so people can exercise the same rights and choices as any other citizen — including where and how they live, who they spend time with, and how they contribute to their community.
Our Ethos
"We created SYD Supported Living because we believe care could be delivered differently — through real relationships, inclusive practice, and long-term outcomes at its heart. Lived experience is our greatest asset."— SYD Supported Living, Founding Statement
